~Turin Carrozzeria~

Written by on 22nd January 2012 in Auto, Icon, News, Ride with 0 Comments

The Turin Carrozzeria celebrated her 81st birthday in 2000 and was presented at the Turin Motor Show , the Stola S81 , one only 1.13 meters high flounder in the spirit of the Lancia Stratos . Uncompromisingly designed by none other than Marcello Gandini . The fluorescent red paint is a direct homage to the Lancia Stratos HF Prototype from 1971. Super cool and Beautifully presented – or rather staged – at the Turin Automobile Museum.

The updated S81 is now surprisingly modern and has barely aged.

~PETER OLSCHINSKY’S VENTILSPIEL 1000KM~

Written by on 22nd January 2012 in Auto, Photography, Ride with 0 Comments

It’s starting to become more and more difficult to keep track of all the fantastic historic race meetings happening around the world, and I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I didn’t know the Ventilspiel 1000km race at Austria’s Red Bull Ring. If these astoundingly atmospheric photographs from Peter Olschinsky capture even a tenth of the excitement of the event then it’s definitely worth adding to your list of events to attend in ’12.

In these photos, this low contrast and saturation is a mistake, and it looks it. In Peter’s photography, the low saturation lends a mood to his shots that suits the subject marvelously. When a piece of art’s methods or palette or construction accentuates the subject it always feels more whole to me. Peter Olschinsky’s studies from the Ventilspiel 1000km definitely fit that description. Click on over to Atelier Olschinsky for the complete collection.

~RETRO MOTO | ABOUT CLASSIC BIKES & THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE TO RIDE ‘EM~

Written by on 20th January 2012 in Customs, Motion Picture, Motorcycles with 0 Comments

Matt Smith and vintage Brit bike restorer at Quaker City City Motor Works & Smoke and Throttle, has joined forces with some very impressive talent– avid motorcycle collector and racer John Lawless, ex-dirt bike racer and experienced filmmaker Ed Buffman, and former director and editor at NBC Shel Brown. The result is this great little trailer for a television show being pitched that Matt would host, called– “Retro Moto”. I’m really excited about it because it’s exactly the kind of show I’d want to watch– all about classic bikes, their history, and the people who love to ride ‘em. Check it out after the jump and let us know what you think.
